This book was inspired by the late Will Rogers, a multi-talented man, a kind man, and a non-offensive political humorist. I wish I could, but I cannot even begin to compare myself to him. Nevertheless, this is my attempt to get people to look at politics a little less seriously and maybe find a little humor in their own political views.
I wrote this book in 2007 and the political arena is much more hateful now than it was at that time, so I have some doubts as to acceptance of this book at this time. I am pretty sure it will offend some people, and maybe everyone. But I’ll take the chance and not withdraw it at least for now.
Will Rogers lived at the time of the Great Depression. Among the many things he did was to do a radio program focusing on the political issues of the day. He could pick up a daily newspaper, scan the headlines, and then do an entire program of humorous criticism of all things political.
It was a very bad time in America, and almost everyone was hurting in some way. Will had a great empathy for the people and spoke their language, regardless of political affiliations of the people. I have spent many joyous hours listening to recordings of his programs.
