MADELINE PLAINS MEMORIES – THE NCO RAILROAD

     This old picture is labeled NCO plowing snow at Ravendale. I remember snow, and cold, and not too fondly. And really cold when the wind blew, and that seemed like most of the time. Between 1945 and 1965 when I left the ranch, I remember the record low as 30 degrees below zero. 
     My dad who was born in 1906 remembered a low of 40 below.

This picture is labeled The NCO at Karlo. Karlo is between Ravendale and Secret Valley to the west of Hwy. 395. you can find it on Google Maps. For a while when I was in grade school I remember a Frankie Del Carlo from Karlo who attended the Ravendale School for a short time.
